Why Donate Blood? It’s Simple, It Saves Lives
Without blood donors, so many would lose their lives. Per the Red Cross, every two seconds in the United States someone is in need of blood. That means that about 36,000 units of red blood cells are needed each and every day in our country. It’s needed in the case of emergencies. Blood has to be on hand for emergencies even before they occur.
Why People Become Blood Donors
The Red Cross reports that the number one reason donate blood is because they want to help people. The main reasons people don’t want to donate is a fear of needles. Other people have a hard time donating because they feel lightheaded or faint. But so many people donate anyway. Thank goodness they do! Per BNL.gov 4.5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions.

Blood transfusions account for much of the blood donation usage. People with severe infections, certain liver diseases, kidney diseases, or cancer can require transfusions. Persons with hemophilia or other bleeding disorders also require blood transfusions as well.
So this month we celebrate those who bravely give blood. Thank you blood donors for saving lives and giving your time and your blood to those in need. You save lives, and so many are grateful.
